SUMMARY:2025 Cuba Mission Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:St. John’s will again send a mission team to visit our companion church\, Iglesia Episcopal San Pedro Apostol\, in Zorrilla\, Cuba\, Nov. 13-18. They will worship and share fellowship with the parish and community and deliver much-needed donations from St. John’s. Missionaries are: Francine Walker and Chris Schoonover\, co-leaders; Fr. Lonnie Lacy\, Alison Dillehay\, Joe Dillehay\, Paula Kiger\, Jan Porter\, and JR Saginario. Each will take donated supplies for San Pedro Apostol\, including over-the-counter medicines and vitamins for children and adults\, altar supplies\, and women’s items\, and other support for the church. \n\nJoin us in Café de Martin’s Patio Garden (2743 Capital Circle NE\, Tallahassee 32308) to help us raise funds for the upcoming 2025 mission to Cuba! We’ll have live music\, appetizers\, plus a cash bar with a fun themed drink special. It’s $25 per person and all funds raised via donations will support our companion church\, San Pedro Apostol in Zorrilla\, Cuba\, including costs of mission trips and to provide humanitarian aid as needed. DESCRIPTION:Children in PreK-5th grades are invited to join us from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM for weekly Christian formation. This year\, 4 classes (PK/K\, 1st\, 2nd/3rd grades\, and 4th/5th grades) will meet weekly through April 27. Activities take place upstairs in the Sunday School wing. \nHere’s what we’ll be learning! \nPK/K: Godly Play– This nurturing approach honors the unique competencies and capacities of early childhood. Students’ innate spirituality will be engaged\, and their growing use of religious language will be nourished as they make meaning from Biblical stories through a creative process of self-discovery. \n1st: Festal Eucharist– Students will participate in a special curriculum created right here at St. John’s to prepare our first-grade children for worship in the Episcopal tradition. They will focus on Worship\, Holy Baptism\, Christian Giving and The Holy Eucharist culminating with the Festal Eucharist in May. \n2nd/3rd & 4th/5th: StoryMakers- Upper elementary students will become StoryMakers and use their imaginations to enter God’s story. They will engage with Biblical stories through creative visual arts\, interactive storytelling\, field notes\, fun facts\, thoughts to ponder\, and hands-on activities. They will experience stories of The Promised Land\, Isaiah\, Advent\, Lent\, and Easter. \nWe also provide a full staff on Sunday mornings in our nursery for children five years and younger. DESCRIPTION:This fall\, St. John’s will offer a new weekly Bible study for women on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Killeen Hall. Facilitated by Jane Menton\, the group will explore A Beautiful Year in the Bible\, a theologically grounded and visually engaging resource from the Alabaster Company. Designed to be accessible and thought-provoking\, this study invites women of all ages and backgrounds to reflect on themes such as New Beginnings\, Heeding God’s Call\, Relationships\, Forgiveness\, Generosity\, and Hope. \n\n\n\n\nThe format is flexible\, with content designed for 52 weeks but easily spread across two years if the group desires. Books are available for purchase on Amazon. Our first session will be Tuesday\, September 16. All are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:On Tuesdays in October\, members of the St. John’s Tower Bell Guild will be performing bell concerts and providing tours of our historic bell tower. Come enjoy the beautiful sounds of St. John’s 14 hand-rung bells while eating lunch in the garden. Outdoor seating is available in Eve’s Garden\, or one of St. John’s many other outdoor garden spaces. \nBells will be played from noon-12:30 p.m. Informal tours will follow. Simply make your way to the choir loft following each Tuesday’s concert.
