SUMMARY:SALT Luncheon: FSU’s Sod Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:St. John’s September SALT Luncheon promises to be amazing. If you are an FSU fan\, or even if you’re simply interested in a piece of Tallahassee tradition\, you won’t want to miss it! \nIn 1985\,  FSU Dean Coyle Moore asked St. John’s parishioner\, Doug Mannheimer\, to be the second “Keeper” of FSU’s Sod Cemetery\, a tradition that Dean Moore founded in 1962. The Sod Cemetery has been named one of the 100 greatest college football traditions.  Doug will tell stories about the very grave responsibility of keeping a tradition which the New York Times has called “The Happiest Cemetery in America.”  \nDoug and Cricket Mannheimer have been members of St. John’s since 1981. Doug\, a Tallahassee native\,  is in his 46th year of law practice.   \nThe presentation will be followed by a Q & A.\, and lunch. While SALT stands for “Senior Adults Living Triumphantly\,” ALL ages are welcome to join us. \nClick here to register. \nOr contact Deborah Dugger in the church office for assistance. Please RSVP by September 16. A $9/person donation is appreciated to cover luncheon costs. Coffee will be served in Alfriend Hall beginning at 10:30 AM. Our program begins at 11 AM in Killeen Hall\, and lunch follows the presentation.

SUMMARY:Children’s Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Children in PreK-5th grades are invited to join us from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM for weekly Christian formation. This year\, 4 classes (PK/K\, 1st\, 2nd/3rd grades\, and 4th/5th grades) will meet weekly through April 27. Activities take place upstairs in the Sunday School wing. \nHere’s what we’ll be learning! \nPK/K: Godly Play– This nurturing approach honors the unique competencies and capacities of early childhood. Students’ innate spirituality will be engaged\, and their growing use of religious language will be nourished as they make meaning from Biblical stories through a creative process of self-discovery. \n1st: Festal Eucharist– Students will participate in a special curriculum created right here at St. John’s to prepare our first-grade children for worship in the Episcopal tradition. They will focus on Worship\, Holy Baptism\, Christian Giving and The Holy Eucharist culminating with the Festal Eucharist in May. \n2nd/3rd & 4th/5th: StoryMakers- Upper elementary students will become StoryMakers and use their imaginations to enter God’s story. They will engage with Biblical stories through creative visual arts\, interactive storytelling\, field notes\, fun facts\, thoughts to ponder\, and hands-on activities. They will experience stories of The Promised Land\, Isaiah\, Advent\, Lent\, and Easter. \nWe also provide a full staff on Sunday mornings in our nursery for children five years and younger. We would love to have your child join us on Sunday mornings! Any questions\, please contact Tyree Jordan. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD

SUMMARY:Middle-School Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Middle-schoolers (6-8 grade) are invited to join us from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM for weekly Christian formation in the Sunday School wing. \nMiddle school students will become StoryMakers to express their questions\, discoveries\, and creativity as they explore the deep theological truths and faith in God. They will walk through the Signs of Grace—baptism and Communion—which contain the tangible means they can hang on to when all seems lost\, and the Lord’s Prayer\, which assures us we have been given the title of heirs—adopted into God’s kingdom and claimed as his own. \nAny questions\, please contact Tyree Jordan.
