DESCRIPTION:Our All Souls Requiem Mass (also known as The Commemoration of All Faithful Departed) is a liturgy set aside to remember all our departed loved ones whose lives deeply touched our own. The St. John’s Choir and Choristers will offer a transcendent musical setting of Duruflé’s Requiem to accompany this service. Come hear one of the most powerful choral works of the 20th century\, offered in its original context: a worship service on All Souls’ Day. \nDuruflé’s Requiem is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful sacred compositions of the 20th century. Drawing deeply on the ancient melodies of Gregorian chant\, the work weaves together timeless tradition with rich harmonic colors\, offering a sense of both consolation and transcendence. Heard in the setting of a liturgy\, the music finds its fullest expression\, enfolding worshippers in prayer and reflection. \nThe service will begin at 4:00 PM in the church\, followed by a soup supper in Alfriend Hall. DESCRIPTION:High schoolers are invited to join us in the Youth Room\, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Sundays. \nHigh school Sunday programing this year revolves around loving God with our whole heart\, soul\, mind\, and strength. Students will rotate through four themes each month with the Wellness Compass\, the Prayer Book\, Global Philanthropy Leaders (and other special topics)\, and a movement-based class. DESCRIPTION:Middle-schoolers (6-8 grade) are invited to join us from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM for weekly Christian formation in the Sunday School wing. \nMiddle school students will become StoryMakers to express their questions\, discoveries\, and creativity as they explore the deep theological truths and faith in God. They will walk through the Signs of Grace—baptism and Communion—which contain the tangible means they can hang on to when all seems lost\, and the Lord’s Prayer\, which assures us we have been given the title of heirs—adopted into God’s kingdom and claimed as his own. \nAny questions\, please contact Tyree Jordan.

SUMMARY:Children’s Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Children in PreK-5th grades are invited to join us from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM for weekly Christian formation. This year\, 4 classes (PK/K\, 1st\, 2nd/3rd grades\, and 4th/5th grades) will meet weekly through April 27. Activities take place upstairs in the Sunday School wing. \nHere’s what we’ll be learning! \nPK/K: Godly Play– This nurturing approach honors the unique competencies and capacities of early childhood. Students’ innate spirituality will be engaged\, and their growing use of religious language will be nourished as they make meaning from Biblical stories through a creative process of self-discovery. \n1st: Festal Eucharist– Students will participate in a special curriculum created right here at St. John’s to prepare our first-grade children for worship in the Episcopal tradition. They will focus on Worship\, Holy Baptism\, Christian Giving and The Holy Eucharist culminating with the Festal Eucharist in May. \n2nd/3rd & 4th/5th: StoryMakers- Upper elementary students will become StoryMakers and use their imaginations to enter God’s story. They will engage with Biblical stories through creative visual arts\, interactive storytelling\, field notes\, fun facts\, thoughts to ponder\, and hands-on activities. They will experience stories of The Promised Land\, Isaiah\, Advent\, Lent\, and Easter. \nWe also provide a full staff on Sunday mornings in our nursery for children five years and younger. SUMMARY:All Saints’ Sunday: Holy Eucharist Rite II
DESCRIPTION:St. John’s invites you to our All Saints’ Sunday services on Nov. 2. All Saints celebrates the countless saints who have come before us\, particularly those whose work and witness have impacted the history of the Church. St. John’s sanctuary will be decorated with symbols of saints from ages past to remind us of the great cloud of witnesses. Join us for this vibrant celebration of the Communion of the Saints while we celebrate the fullness of All Saints and All Souls.\n \nYou’re invited to join us in Alfriend Hall following the 10 AM service with a complimentary breakfast hosted by the St. John’s Foundation. \nNOTE: Incense will be used during the 10 AM service. \nThis Rite II Service of Holy Eucharist meets in the main sanctuary in person. It will also be livestreamed. \nVisit our ONLINE WORSHIP page. \n
