SUMMARY:Gethsemane Watch
DESCRIPTION:On the night before his crucifixion Jesus asked his disciples to pray with him in the Garden of Gethsemane\, asking\, “Could you not stay awake with me one hour?” (Matt. 26:40). Every year at St. John’s\, we follow that command with an all-night “Gethsemane Watch” on Maundy Thursday. You are encouraged to come\, keep watch\, and pray with our Lord present in the Sacrament on the altar in Carter Chapel. The Gethsemane Watch begins immediately after the 6:30 PM Maundy Thursday service and ends at noon on Good Friday. \nPlease click below to sign up for the hour of your choosing so we can ensure there is someone praying throughout the night during our Gethsemane Watch. If the time slot you prefer is already filled\, please know you are most welcome to pray alongside those already signed up. Security will be on the premises through the night. \nSIGN UP HERE \n

SUMMARY:Liturgy for Maundy Thursday
DESCRIPTION:Maundy Thursday is one of the holiest nights of the year. On this night\, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and shared the Last Supper before his arrest in the garden. During this moving service\, we join with the disciples in those same acts\, offering a gentle ceremony of foot washing for any who wish to receive it and sharing in the Eucharist. After Communion\, the altar is stripped bare. \nThe word “maundy” comes from Latin for “mandate” or “commandment\,” as this is also the night on which Jesus gave his disciples the commandment to love one another. \nThis service will be live streamed – visit our ONLINE WORSHIP page. \nChildcare will be offered for this special evening service. \nNOTE: Incense will be used at this service.

SUMMARY:Liturgy of the Palms – Palm Sunday: Holy Eucharist Rite II
DESCRIPTION:On Palm Sunday\, we step into the final days of Jesus’ earthly life—walking the road from shouts of “Hosanna\,” to the table of the Last Supper\, to the cross\, and finally to the wonder of the empty tomb. This year\, Palm Sunday will be especially meaningful at St. John’s as Assisting Bishop Chip Stokes joins us in worship to confirm and receive new members of our parish family. We will begin our 9 AM service on Call St. and will process into the sanctuary. This service includes choir\, organ\, and Children’s Chapel. \nThis service will be livestreamed – visit our ONLINE WORSHIP page. \n

SUMMARY:A Model Seder with Rabbi Paul Sidlofsky
DESCRIPTION:Join us at St. John’s for a special and meaningful evening as Rabbi Paul Sidlofsky of Temple Israel leads us through a model Passover Seder—a ceremonial meal designed to teach and invite participation\, even though Passover itself has not yet begun. \nThis is not a typical dinner\, but a carefully structured and prayerful meal with timed and symbolic moments that unfold at a gentle\, intentional pace. The evening lasts approximately two and a half hours and moves step-by-step through the Seder ceremony\, the shared meal\, and a concluding blessing. \nThis interactive evening offers a unique opportunity to learn the story of the Israelites and to explore traditions that would have been familiar to Jesus and his disciples. The meal will be simple\, the experience will be participatory\, and all ages are welcome (wine will be served). Come ready to listen\, learn\, and linger\, this is a sacred meal meant to be experienced\, not rushed. \nCost: $20/ADULTS\, $10/CHILDREN \nEVENT SOLD OUT
