SUMMARY:Liturgy of the Palms – Palm Sunday: Holy Eucharist Rite II
DESCRIPTION:On Palm Sunday\, we step into the final days of Jesus’ earthly life—walking the road from shouts of “Hosanna\,” to the table of the Last Supper\, to the cross\, and finally to the wonder of the empty tomb. This year\, Palm Sunday will be especially meaningful at St. John’s as Assisting Bishop Chip Stokes joins us in worship to confirm and receive new members of our parish family. We will begin our 9 AM service on Call St. and will process into the sanctuary. SUMMARY:Liturgy for Maundy Thursday
DESCRIPTION:Maundy Thursday is one of the holiest nights of the year. On this night\, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and shared the Last Supper before his arrest in the garden. During this moving service\, we join with the disciples in those same acts\, offering a gentle ceremony of foot washing for any who wish to receive it and sharing in the Eucharist. After Communion\, the altar is stripped bare. \nThe word “maundy” comes from Latin for “mandate” or “commandment\,” as this is also the night on which Jesus gave his disciples the commandment to love one another. \nThis service will be live streamed – visit our ONLINE WORSHIP page. \nChildcare will be offered for this special evening service. \nNOTE: Incense will be used at this service.
