SUMMARY:Contemplative Study
DESCRIPTION:On the first and third Thursdays of each month\, join the Front Porch for an in-person offering to help you deepen your spirituality through contemplative practice. \nWe will begin with a 10 minute Centering Prayer sit & then move on to Lectio Divina using Richard Rohr’s book\, “Just This.” Attendees can get started on any week.Participants will be invited to stay for casual conversation and discussion over lunch (brown bag or pre-order from the Lively Cafe). \n  \n \nThis event is presented by The Front Porch: a Spiritual Life Center. The Front Porch welcomes people along all paths who seek to deepen their spiritual lives. We offer contemplative practices\, events\, and classes rooted in Christian spirituality.

SUMMARY:Gethsemane Watch
DESCRIPTION:On the night before his crucifixion Jesus asked his disciples to pray with him in the Garden of Gethsemane\, asking\, “Could you not stay awake with me one hour?” (Matt. 26:40). Every year at St. John’s\, we follow that command with an all-night “Gethsemane Watch” on Maundy Thursday. You are encouraged to come\, keep watch\, and pray with our Lord present in the Sacrament on the altar in Carter Chapel. The Gethsemane Watch begins immediately after the 6:30 PM Maundy Thursday service and ends at noon on Good Friday. \nPlease click below to sign up for the hour of your choosing so we can ensure there is someone praying throughout the night during our Gethsemane Watch. If the time slot you prefer is already filled\, please know you are most welcome to pray alongside those already signed up. Security will be on the premises through the night. \nSIGN UP HERE \n
