SUMMARY:Vessels of Faith: Crafting a Lenten Communion Set
DESCRIPTION:Join parishioner James Kummer for a brief presentation on the handcrafted wooden Communion set he created for Lent. Rooted in his service as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion\, his love of woodworking\, and the strong presence of wood in the life and architecture of St. John’s\, this set reflects a deep connection to faith\, craft\, and the witness of Jesus as a carpenter’s son. \nEach chalice is made from wood taken from homes built by James’s ancestors across several generations\, using different Florida woods\, while the ciboria include pieces crafted from St. John’s itself and other meaningful locations. A recurring Trinitarian theme runs through every object\, with each piece intentionally incorporating three elements\, inviting reflection on the sacred mysteries we enter as we prepare for the season of Lent.
